Here's to the good times.

The Dead Idols are now a 3 piece band. After much deliberation it was decided that Ryan Schlotterbeck will no longer be playing with us. There are absolutely no hard feelings between him and us, as he understands that we came to the decision not because of personal reasons but just the practical reasons of him living in another city and him being just slightly younger than the rest of us. We love this guy and hope you all will keep up with his other projects, Tasisity www.myspace.com/tasisitymusic and his un-named industrial post-metal project. He's still looking for guitarists and a drummer for that, so if you're interested let him know! We had so many great times with this guy and can't thank him enough for everything he's done. So, here's to the good times, friend. Take it sleazy. As for the band we are taking some time off to adjust to the change and we plan to make our grand(ish) return February 13th at Big Tobacco's House of Ink. Hope to see you there!

Livin' With Carlos, The Only Way To Stay Sane...

Well, it's been too fucking long since we've updated, well... anything. Let's start with Carlos. While in Minnesota, mining for coal, Logan found a stray pack of dogs, complete with a mother dog and a litter of pups. Logan knew these pups wouldn't make it much longer living in a coal and decided to take one of the pups back to Kansas with him. He scanned the whole litter and picked the outcast of the litter, which he decided looked like a Carlos. Now, he lives comfortably with Logan and is the official Dead Idol Dog. You can see pictures of him in our picture section of our myspace.

Next order of business (and the one that most people will likely care about), after much deliberating, it was decided that Ryan will no longer be playing bass with us and Logan will no longer be playing guitar for us. They are in fact switching instruments. They have this to say.

Logan: Ryan and I are switching instruments because we both feel it's what's best for the band. Ryan is a much better guitarist than I am and the bass is a much more challenging instrument for me. I was never that great at the guitar, anyway, so this switch just seems pretty natural.

Ryan: I believe Logan proposed the idea to me and I thought it would be alright to try out. It's been working out pretty well, and it's an interesting and sometimes fun process to undergo. It's been allowing a bit more creative flow to re-enter our atmosphere as we've been preparing new songs and schemes that you will all one day come to experience.

Now, both Logan and Ryan are keeping open minds and made a deal that if one of them was unhappy with the switch in the next six months, then things would return to the way they used to, no questions asked. So, keep an eye out. The Dead Idols are coming back better than before... or at least different than before.

Two shows down...

Well, for our first tour, this shit ain't bad.

First night was real fun. It was supposed to start at six but you know how that shit goes... So a few hours later, Honest Abe goes on and blow near everyone away. Their sound is real tight and they're all together a bunch of awesome guys. Next up was American Low Life, and man, those guys are a truly talented bunch. Definitly charismatic. We played really awesome. We got alittle naked and it eventually turned into "Testicle Festival '09" as Iain Blair called it (not because of us though). Big Tobacco's House of Ink is really an amazing place. John and April are the shit, and haven't let us down yet. We love you guys.

Last night, in Manhattan was fun as hell. Due to a double booking at O'Malleys Product of Theory was forced to make a split decision and move the show to their house, but while they were setting up in their garage, the tree in their backyard just fell. They managed to get ahold of us and told us not to show up to O'Malleys and we showed up to their house, played to a like 10 people in a garage, and still made like 60 some dollars. Oh yeah, and Ryan fell on his ass during one of the songs.

Now, we're sitting in a dive bar in an econo lodge waiting to play to no one, again.

Overall, this isn't bad at all. We pretty much love it.

SEK fest went off with a bang, thanks to all the bands who played and a special thanks to the boys from Honest Abe (killer band and awesome friends) to setting it up and saving our asses when things fell apart on stage :).

Album release is less than a month away and then onto our "you can hardly call it a tour" tour.

So we have this blog but I don't think there are many people who read it, so to those of you who don't and never will...

SUCK IT! 8--->

An outrage against nature.

That's right we discovered the cure. Simple really. We just had to play mass amounts of The Cure to Andrew's corpse and a few hours later he was fully reanimated and playing the drums better than ever. Also, through the magic of the marketplace on Facebook, we managed to find a new arm for Ryan, so he's back to stumbling around the fretboard. With all our recent tragedy, we still managed to pull off getting 3rd at a Battle of the Bands at the high school. So, maybe...just maybe... we don't suck nearly as bad as we thought we were. Still, kinda bad....but not terrible. Well, we've got a few weeks to polish our set before our string of summer shows. We hope to see you there!
